My first major job was as an executive assistant to a VP at a telecom company. It had such fun perks and visibility. But I sucked at it. I had a very patient boss but he should have fired me after the first month. I simply lacked the confidence to do represent him well. I look back on that now and want to tell my 23-year-old self to own it. A friend, when she herself was overly apologetic and lacking confidence, was told, "Hon, you need to get an attitude! Tell people to 'take a number'!" No I don't need to be rude or unkind, but to take up my place in the universe with pride. Everyone belongs here, everyone matters.
As you know I love mixing different prints and textures. There is so much going on in this outfit and it all jives. I do variations of this idea all the time. The herringbone tweed along with the menswear striped shirt and leopard, with the denim vest, is just fun. The vest might be meant to be worn sleeveless, but I got it one size up and use it as a variation on the sweater vest. The ponytail and tweed look a little secretarial. I'm owning it a lot better than my old self did!
