COAT / HANDBAG (Tribeca resident!) / SHOES / JEANS (similar) / SWEATER / SHIRT / SHADES (Canal Street, $10)
I know so many of my posts seem to have similar backdrops but that's because they are usually right outside my door in my beloved neighborhood of Tribeca. We started house-hunting again in earnest, and I put my StreetEasy settings to include Soho or the West Village, but ultimately I can't even imagine anything outside of where we live now. We came here for the school, but are staying for the home feel it has become since 2008. It means so much more to me than square footage ever will. If we ever leave our tiny rental and find our second dream home (we sold our first apartment 2 1/2 years ago), we will have definitely sacrificed square footage for location again just to stay here.
These streets are so wonderful and echo of so much history and current friendships to me. A girlfriend once commented that because we are so much closer to both rivers surrounding Manhattan (this is where the 'triangle' part of TRIangle BElow CAnal street' comes in), it is so much colder than her Upper West Side. I think she's right, but I'll put up with the wind and the cold and a smaller place in order to stay here. Home is where the heart is, and my heart is here.
